Japanese Indigo Boro

Composed in 1900 but made of earlier fragments of shibori, katazome and kasuri.
These patchwork boros define beautifully the idea of nobility with humility.
Composed of indigo scraps to form covers, they were very much created for utility.
Indigo was used for workers clothes and nothing was thrown away. Indigo was a natural protection against insects. No moth will feast upon it.
